Bypass the User Account Control Confirmation Screen

When launching AccuZIP6, you might receive a prompt from User Account Control asking if you want to allow this app to make changes to your device. Clicking Yes allows you to advance into the AccuZIP6 software. You can adjust the User Account Control setting to Never Notify, or you can apply a work-around to ignore the UAC prompt when you launch AccuZIP6 if you're uncomfortable with or not allowed to change the User Account Control settings.

How to adjust User Account Control Settings

  1. Click Start and type User Account Control
  2. Select Change User Account Control Settings
  3. Drag the slider from Always Notify to Never Notify.
  4. Click OK. When prompted by UAC, click Yes

Now you will no longer get prompted.

If you want to avoid the User Account Control prompt while keeping the setting at "Always Notify", use a Scheduled task to bypass this prompt.

I’ll provide instructions for creating a scheduled task that runs elevated, then launching that task from a shortcut. Windows trusts Task Scheduler, so no UAC prompt appears.

Open Task Scheduler

  • Press Start
  • Type: Task Scheduler
  • Choose Run as Administrator

Create the Task (Important: NOT “Basic Task”)

  • On the right panel click: Create Task… (NOT “Create Basic Task”)

General Tab

In the Name field, name it: AccuZIP6_Elevated

Location showing "\"

That is normal. It just means the root Task Scheduler Library. You don’t need to change it.

Configure these checkboxes:

  • Run whether user is logged on or not
  • Run with highest privileges
  • Configure for: Windows 11 (or Windows 10 if that’s the highest option)

Actions Tab

Click New…

Action:

Start a program

Program/script:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\AccuZIP6 5.0\accuzip6.exe (use the browse to select this application)
  • Start in: C:\Program Files (x86)\AccuZIP6 5.0

Click OK.

Triggers Tab

Leave EMPTY.

Conditions Tab

Uncheck: Start the task only if the computer is on AC power

Settings Tab

  • Enable: Allow task to be run on demand
  • Click OK

It will ask for an admin username/password ONCE.

That credential is stored securely — no future prompts.

Step-by-Step — Create the Desktop Shortcut (No UAC Prompt Launcher)

  • Right-click Desktop → New → Shortcut
  • Location: schtasks /run /tn "AccuZIP6_Elevated"
  • (Name must match the task name exactly.)
  • Click Next
  • Name the shortcut: AccuZIP6
  • Finish
  • Right-click on the AccuZIP6 shortcut that was just created then choose Properties
  • Click on Change Icon
  • Browse to: C:\Program Files (x86)\AccuZIP6 5.0\accuzip6.exe

Now the shortcut looks like an AccuZIP6 shortcut.
