Merge Fields from Duplicate Records Into One

If you have duplicate records in a file that you wish to merge together into a single record, this command and process will do that. This command has a limitation of 5 duplicates per entry, however.

For example, if you had a records in your database where the primary information matched, but there were accounts or other columns that might have different values, this command will create a single record with multiple account fields (account, account1, account2, etc) with each of the values in them.

First, download the file linked below:
https://www.accuzip.com/files/forum/mergedupeinfo.zip

  • Download the file linked above to your system.
  • Extract the “merge_dup_any.FXP” to the “C:\Program Files (x86)\AccuZIP6 5.0” folder.
  • Extract the “Merge Dupe Info Mail-it Plus.txt” to the “C:\Program Files (x86)\AccuZIP6 5.0\Commands” folder.
  • Open the database that you would like to run the command on.
  • Run the duplicate search based on how you would like to compare the records,( e.g: Person, Address or household)

Note: MAKE SURE TO HAVE BACKUP DUPLICATES SELETED

  • Update the database with the duplicates.
  • Run the command. Currently, the command is set to merge 3 fields. You can remove any of the lines or add to them if you need additional fields merged.

When the command is complete, you will see the additional fields at the end of the record with the merged data in them.

The records will be left “Flagged for deletion” in the original database. If you would like to permanently remove them you can “Pack” the database.

While we have consistently been impressed with the level of assistance we receive through your online chat portal, Geoff has been more than helpful and great to work with on every issue we’ve come across. He is quick to diagnose and resolve the issues. He also has offered to instruction and information to prevent future issues. He has even guided us through some functions of Accuzip we had not previously been utilizing. I wanted to take a minute and give a huge shout out to Geoff.
