Convert the Barcode to ZIP4+DP Digits

Description

This command will convert the AccuZIP6 barcode field digits and asterisks to a ZIP4+DP equivalent (see the example, below). This could be useful if you want to export the data to another program, then print the barcode information to a printer that only requires the ZIP+4 and Delivery Point numbers to produce the barcode. This command should only be run on a copy of the main database, like a print file or backup because AccuZIP6 requires the complete barcode when printing.

The Command

Copy this command, then paste it into the large text area of the command window:

Replace barcode with substr(strtran(barcode,"/",""),1,11) for "/" $ barcode

After clicking RUN, the barcode field will contain the zip+4 and the delivery point. You'll need to revalidate your database (Special --> Validate Records) to return the barcode field to its previous state.

You are a genius and I have no excuse for not thinking of this before calling. Our customer is good with cutting the tops and bottoms for the booklets to get under 16 ounces. Thank you for getting me out of a jam and thank you even more for offering your help with this project! I decided to switch to AccuZIP after speaking with Steve at the Minuteman Show. I was impressed with his idea of customer service and you have totally proven him right.
