Create a custom paper size in Windows

In order to print successfully to your chosen label template in AccuZIP6, you might need to change your printer driver's paper size to accommodate the template and the labels or envelopes you're printing on. This technote explains how to change the paper size in Windows XP.

  1. Click on the Windows Start button and choose Settings and Printers or Printers and Scanners
  2. From the File menu choose Server Properties.
  3. Click on the box marked Create a New Form.
  4. Change the name of the form in the Form Name text box.
  5. At the bottom of the Server Properties window there will be an area to adjust the width and height of your paper size. Make the appropriate changes.
  6. Click OK to leave the Server Properties window.
  7. Right-click on the printer you're using, and choose Properties.
  8. Click on the Printing Preferences button on the General tab.
  9. Click on the Advanced... button.
  10. Click on the underlined paper size, then change the paper size to the name you defined in Server Properties.
  11. Click OK a few times.
  12. In AccuZIP6, edit your label template. You can do this from the Print Settings screen by selecting your label template and clicking on the Edit Template button, which is beneath the name of your label template.
  13. Inside the Label Designer window, pull down the File menu to Page Setup.
  14. Click on Print Setup.
  15. Make sure your printer is selected. Select your custom paper size.
  16. Click OK, then click OK again.
  17. Close the template and save changes.

You're now ready to print!

When you create a custom paper size in Windows 11 using Server Properties in Printers & Scanners, it does not automatically appear for all printers, especially not for Microsoft Print to PDF. Here's why and how to address it.

Why It's Not Appearing:
The Microsoft Print to PDF driver only supports a limited, predefined set of paper sizes and does not support custom paper sizes added via Server Properties. This is a limitation of the driver itself.

Solutions & Workarounds:

Option 1: Use a Different PDF Printer That Supports Custom Sizes
Use a third-party PDF printer like:

  • Adobe PDF
  • CutePDF
  • PDFCreator
  • Bullzip PDF Printer

These typically honor custom paper sizes created in Server Properties or allow you to define custom sizes directly in their own interface.

Option 2: Install a Custom Print Driver That Supports Custom Sizes
Install a generic PostScript printer or a real printer driver (even if not connected to a printer) and then:

Add your custom paper size to that printer.

Print to that driver.

Use a PDF printer to “print” from there, or save to PDF via other means.

Option 3: Manually Define Page Size in the Application
Some programs let you define custom page sizes within the application itself (e.g., Microsoft Word or Adobe InDesign). This can override driver limitations.
