How to view and select mapped network drives using Windows 8

The instructions in this technote will help you view mapped network drives within your programs on a computer with Windows 8. With AccuZIP6, these instructions can help you assign a mapped network drive as a watch folder in the Script feature, in addition to being able to select a mapped drive in the Folders area of Properties. Please follow the instructions below.

Run Regedit

Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/System

On the right pane, right click and choose New > DWORD entry. Give it the name: EnableLinkedConnections. Give that a value of 1.

Close regedit.

Restart your computer.

Now you'll be able to see mapped network drives in the Script window's Watch folder, the Open Setup window, the Folders tab of Properties, as well as with other applications.

The [Merge Fields feature]...saved me hours of having to do a bunch of manual address corrections in an updated database, that I already had done months ago on my original database. What a relief. Certainly Rolaids can't top this.
