Installing AccuZIP6 for Non-Administrator Users

AccuZIP6 requires full read/write/delete permissions to perform some operations. Many Network Administrators have raised concerns over the years of granting their users full access to the system, which is understandable. This will help avoid permissions errors directly, or problems stemming from the lack of permissions.

1) The software must be first installed with administrative rights on the user account that will be using the software. This is to ensure that all components are registered properly during installation. After installation, the account can be demoted back to user-level permissions.

2) After installation and the permission changes to the user account, the AccuZIP6 5.0 directory (the full default path is C:\Program Files (x86)\AccuZIP6 5.0) and all subdirectories must be granted full read/write/delete permission for the user account that will be operating AccuZIP6.

3) The registry keys found in:

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\AccuZIP, Inc.\AccuZIP6 5.0

Must also have full read/write/delete permissions.

4) Lastly, the PDF converter must be granted the same "full" permission level.

In the registry editor, click on HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG.
Click on SOFTWARE.
Right click on AccuZIP PDF Converter and choose Permissions.

Assign Full Control to every group or username in the list. This will allow the registry to be written to by the AccuZIP PDF Converter, which is required in order to prevent errors when you attempt to print.

After following those 4 steps, your user-level accounts in Windows should be able to do everything required in AccuZIP6 to allow smooth operation.

With recent changes to Windows versions, this issue has come back up--User Account Control is still prompting non-admin users for credentials to run, even though users have UAC set to never notify.

This can be bypassed by completely disabling User Account Control, which will allow the software to launch once more without the prompt.

If you have no intent on using UAC, it can be completely disabled in the registry (which requires reboot).

The “EnableLUA” key at this location needs set to ‘0’:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Once that's been disabled and the machine rebooted, you should be able to successfully launch AccuZIP6 without entering admin credentials.
