Title: Trouble Shooting Label Printing Problems

AccuZIP6 provides label templates designed to suit many different label and paper sizes, and various printers and printer drivers. Different printer drivers can change the behavior of a label template. Because of this, you might need to make adjustments to the label template in order for the template to work with your printer. This technote describes common problems that may arise, along with the solutions to the problems.

Blank lines are printing when the field is empty.

  1. From the Print Settings window, click on the Edit Template button.
  2. Double click on the line that is not moving up when it is blank.
  3. In the Report Expression window, click on the Print When button.
  4. In the Print When window make sure that "Remove Line if Blank" is checked.
  5. Click OK, and OK again

There is a space printing between the text lines for no apparent reason.

  1. From the Print Settings window, click on the Edit Template button.
    It is possible that the lines in the template are overlapping. This will cause a blank space to print. It could also cause a line to not print at all.
  2. To adjust the space between the lines, click on the line that appears to be causing the problem. Then, use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move them up or down, one pixel at a time. If they are touching, but not overlapping, there will be a dark bold line in between them.
  3. Adjust the spacing on each line until no blank spaces are occurring when you print or preview
    If you still cannot get the spacing problem corrected, it is possible that the font is too big to fit in the label space allowed.
  4. To change the font size:
    1. Select the line.
    2. From the Format menu, choose Font.
    3. Adjust the font size.
    4. Click OK.

The endorsement line is printing off to the left and does not contain all the information or it is wrapping around to the next line.

When printing to a 1 1/2 inch label on a dot matrix printer, a page break is occurring. Thus, a blank label is printing or you are getting a form feed.

I am printing to a Direct Impression Printer and the address block is right justified as compared to the barcode.

  1. In the label template, from the File menu, choose Page Setup.
  2. Change the left margin to zero (0.00).

One of the lines on my label template is printing off to the right instead of being left justified.

  1. Edit the label template.
  2. Select the line by clicking once on it.
  3. Then, from the Format menu, choose Text Alignment.
  4. Make sure that Left is selected.

My barcode is printing in numbers instead of in barcode format on my Dot Matrix, Laser Writer, Deskjet or Laser Jet Printer.

  1. Make sure that the USPS barcode font is installed into your fonts folder. If it is not, then add it as a new font. These fonts are available for installation in the AccuZIP6 5.0\Fonts folder in the folder labeled DPBC.
  2. Follow the instructions below to make sure that the barcode line is set to USPS barcode, size
    1. Click once on the barcode line.
    2. From the Format menu, choose Font.
    3. Check the font setting and change it if necessary to USPS Barcode font, regular, size
