Title: Exporting your data in presort order
Edited: July 1, 2008

A Diskfile output (exporting your database in the format of your choice) can be used for any of the following purposes:

  • To create a new database in presorted order with all of the presorted data in a format that can be read by other programs such as MS Word for a Mail Merge.**
  • To create a label format output in presorted order to take to another computer or application for printing.
  • To create an output file in an AccuZIP6 database format in presorted order.

To create a Diskfile follow the instructions below.

  1. From the Print Presort window, click on the Print Labels button.
  2. From the Print Settings window, choose Diskfile from the Output pull down menu. Click Continue.
  3. Select Export Format from the Template pull down.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. In the Export Setup window, select the fields you want to export, or check the Export All Fields box.*
  6. Select which Export Format you want from the Export Format pull down menu.
  7. Select the Scope of records you want to export, i.e., all, rest, marked.
  8. Click Export.
  9. Give the File a name and choose a location to save the file.
  10. Click Save.

A new file has now been created. This file can be opened in other programs depending on the format that you saved it in. It can also be used to compare with your original AccuZIP6 database by doing a Merge/Purge. See the AccuZIP6 Users Guide for instructions on doing a Merge/Purge.

*You can select a pre-saved Export Map from the Export Maps pull down.
**If you are exporting for a Mail Merge in MS Word, you will need to select the endorse and barcode fields as well as the fields you want to print. To print the barcode in MS Word, assign the USPS Barcode font, size 15, to the barcode field in MS Word.
